About the PTO
OUR PURPOSE
The purpose of the Larchmont Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), a 501(c)(3) organization, is to support the educational programs at Larchmont and to strengthen the relationship between home and school. The proceeds from every fundraiser are used to support the clubs, activities, and programs offered at Larchmont.
Our biggest fundraiser of the year is the Fun Run, but events like Book Fair, our monthly Dine and Donate, Miss Chocolate Cookie sale, and others all raise money that directly benefits our children. YOU are instrumental to our success! We are grateful to our volunteers and are always looking for ways to garner more involvement from parents. Going into the 2022-2023 school year, we are starting committees for each event and we hope that you will consider volunteering for one (or more) committee!
We can't wait to work with you!
OPEN PTO POSITIONS
Looking for a way to get involved with the PTO? We are seeking volunteers for several committees heading into the 2023-2024 school year. The committee descriptions are listed below. If you have any questions, please email lmpto.info@mtlaurelschools.org
THE MORE YOU KNOW...
Many employers will match, or partially match, a donation to a 501(c)(3) organization. Is your employer matching donations?
PTO COMMITTEES
There are several Committees in place to support the many PTO activities throughout the year. See the brief descriptions below and let us know if you are interested in getting involved:
ROOM PARENTS: Room Parents help coordinate classroom activities for the teachers and PTO as needed. Activities may include arranging classroom parties (3 throughout the year), classroom volunteers, and a welcome contact to new families in the class. Room Parents are also given opportunities to assist the class at other PTO events if needed. A request for Room Parents will be sent home in early September.
TRUNK OR TREAT COMMITTEE: The Trunk or Treat Committee will help obtain candy for the event, distribute candy throughout the evening, help navigate cars to their assigned spaces, and anything else needed for a fun, safe, and successful Trunk or Treat.
BOOK FAIR COMMITTEE: This committee will work with the Scholastic Book Fair representatives on planning and executing both the Fall and Spring Book Fairs. The committee will be asked to choose a theme for the Book Fair and will be able to volunteer at the event to aid the children in choosing their books.
PRETZEL COMMITTEE: The Pretzel Committee will be responsible for the ordering, pick-up, and distribution of soft pretzels from Philly Pretzel Factory in Lumberton at 8:30 AM on early dismissal days (10 throughout the year) and on special occasion pretzel days (Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day). This is approximately one hour of volunteer time on each occasion.
HOLIDAY SHOP COMMITTEE: The Holiday Shop Committee will assist with the set-up and breakdown of the shop, as well as being able to volunteer at the event to help the students shop.
CAREER FAIR COMMITTEE: Volunteers for this committee would assist in recruiting professionals from various careers to set up a table at the career fair and speak to the students about what their career entails.
EVENING OF THE ARTS COMMITTEE: Volunteers would assist in hanging artwork throughout the school in preparation for the art show.
GLOW PARTY COMMITTEE: This committee will assist in the planning and execution of the Glow Party scheduled for February 2024. Volunteers will be given the opportunity to chaperone the event.
TEACHER/STAFF APPRECIATION COMMITTEE: As a PTO, we strive to show our Larchmont staff our appreciation on a monthly basis, as well as planning events for each day of Teacher Appreciation Week. This committee would assist in the planning and execution of our Teacher Appreciation Week daily events.
BEAR BASH COMMITTEE: Bear Bash is our big community event of the year, taking place each year in June. This committee would be responsible for planning, vendor/entertainment bookings, and execution of this beloved event.
FUN RUN COMMITTEE: This Committee is likely our biggest committee. Volunteers would be responsible for fundraising within the local business community, prize distribution, as well as many other small details. We would ask for some members of the committee to be available on the day of the event to assist the students through their laps.
